The algorithm analyzes vast amounts of data and the usual links in them. When it identifies a divergence from an equilibrium state, it deploys a strategy capitalizing on the return to that state. Such trading does not require active human intervention, thus emotions do not enter into the investment decision which could negatively affect it. The strategies used are developed through a proprietary technology platform applying mathematical and statistical methods to large sets of real data. We also collaborate with Czech universities to improve our software.

Example of trading cointegration of US and European oil

US and European oil prices usually move in synchrony (red and blue curves in the chart). If the price of US oil suddenly diverges from the price of European oil, a return to their average price can be anticipated. This presents an opportunity to capitalize on this temporary deviation from the equilibrium relationship. The algorithm initiates a strategy profiting on a return to the average price of both commodities. It does not matter whether we expect the price of oil to rise or fall. Profit is realized as soon as the prices of both commodities return to the usual equilibrium.
